In spite of the somewhat silly name, there's some serious theology happening on board ye old pirate ship. The flagship show, of course, is the new risen from the dead Issues, Etc. which airs daily from 1 to 3 PM. Fighting for the Faith comes next at 3 PM, which is Chris Rosebrough of Extreme Theology arm wrestling with Joel Osteen, Rick Warren, and all the other purveyors of the less-than-good-news "gospel." At 4 PM, you get White Horse Inn Classic, recorded episodes of the venerable apologetic show featuring Mike Horton and Rod Rosenbladt. The rest of the time is filled with all sorts of filler including sermons from various Lutheran pastors, including yours truly, and some decent podcasts that have been floating around various corners of the internet. Program manager Craig Donofrio hopes to have a full schedule of shows running in a few months, so stay tuned.
By the way, the pirate flag will be flying over the Higher Things Amen conference in Irvine with live broadcasts of our plenary sessions and services along with interviews. You will definitely want to tune in and be a part of the Amen youth conference.
If I may engage in a bit of shameless self-promotion (isn't blogging really about shameless self-promotion anyway?), I'd like to point to a new show called The God Whisperers. Craig and I came up with the concept of a talk show that is an unscripted combination of catechesis, Bible study, table talk, and humor. Kind of the "Car Talk" of Christianity. Religion for the irreligious. Since "God Talk" was already claimed as a name, we came up with The God Whisperers, which turned out to work pretty well as a theme. God Whisperers airs periodically during the 24-hour broadcast loop on PCR and will soon have its own podcast site just as soon as I figure out how to flip the switch.
According to Chris, there is already some notice over the content of Pirate Christian Radio. People either love it or hate it, there seems to be no middle ground, which is what Jesus said about the way of the cross. Stay tuned for more.

Car Talk indeed came to mind as I heard you and your co-host laugh.
Only the laughing didn't make me want to switch stations. For a change.
Very fun and so in keeping with Todd Wilken's letter to BJS, about Old Theology, New Media. What a way to be creative without re-creating (or abandoning) the Truth.
May your like increase.
